Extracting an object or person from it’s background
Here we explore the many methods of extracting an Image from it's background or highlighting the image by using DOF and other methods. Make your main subject stand out and even place it in a pleasant background. Some extractions are relatively easy, some quite difficult (such as wispy hair).

27. Better results with Extraction.
Missing a few chunks of your proposed selection after doing an extraction? Try duplicating the layer a few times and you’ll see wonderful improvements to the edges. Then merge these layers for your final result. I learned this technique at PhotoshopWorld East Miami.

The following are for difficult extractions such as Hair .
Thanks to Danny Raphael for these links. Danny’s Post with these links is here
These may help. They address a technique called "channel masks" for making difficult selections.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Be forewarned: If a selection is difficult, there's usually no quick and easy way to mask it. But in some cases a channel mask will reduce the overall pain and increase the final results.

The Nature Photographers Code of Ethics
A comprehensive listing of Photoshop tips , tricks , tutorials , plug-ins , actions , workflow and more mostly culled from DPReview's Retouching Forum . The emphasis of this site is on retouching. I am now expanding the list to include basic Digital Photography info as well as specific categories of Digital Photography such as Nature, Landscape and portrait photography. Most but not all of this info is free. This list will be continually updated for the next few months. It will be indexed by subject and finely honed but will remain a simple site of links to easily navigate (hopefully). Your additions, suggestions and help openly solicited. Please advise of any bad or improper links.
I want to thank the many wonderful contributors on the Retouching Forum and others that contributed to the existence of this index. I have contributed little except to compile these links to some really wonderful Photoshop info.
Thanks to all who contributed to make this guide possible
