Move all files AND FOLDERS from the plug_ins folder to the plug_ins_disabled folder except EWH32.api, printme.api, and search.api. There should only be these 3 files in the plug_ins folder.

You can leave in "eBook.api" in case you ever need to read an Adobe copy-protected eBook.

Watermark:

If you have Photoshop 7.0 you can take any text or shape and create a watermark. Put the text or shape on a transparent layer, go to layer > rasterize > shape, or text, as it may be. Go to styles > load styles > load buttons. Then click on clear embossed.

This will render a clear image. Then you can delete the background, crop the image to the size you want to save and you will always have that watermark to use. Just drag in into an image and size appropriatly. I have several that I use. The one shown is made up of two different shapes.

1) Establish your color settings by choosing Edit > Color Settings from the menu and choosing the appropriate options.

2) Establish your preferences by selecting Edit > Preferences > General from the menu, and setting the desired options on each page (clicking Next to cycle through each page).

3) Re-install any plug-ins you want to use with the new version, or copy the appropriate files or folders for those plug-ins from the Plug-ins folder of the prior installation into the Plug-ins folder of the new installation. Be sure not to copy plug-ins that were included as part of the prior version of Photoshop by Adobe, as those will generally cause problems with the new version (and they're already included with the new version anyway).

4) Reconfigure your workspace (palette arrangements, etc.) if you were using that option with the prior version and save the workspace (Window > Workspace > Save Workspace).

5) If you were using any custom tool presets, select Save Tool Presets from the flyout menu on the preset dropdown of the Options bar for each tool and then use the Load Tool Presets option in the new version. You can also use the Preset Manager for this purpose.

6) If you have actions created in the prior version, select each action set that contains actions you need to transfer in turn, and choose Save Actions from the side menu on the Actions palette, saving the actions into a file. Then, in the new version, choose Load Actions from the side menu of the Actions palette and select each of the files you saved in turn.

My images look darker in Photoshop than in other apps. When an image is first loaded into ACR it look much different than in Nikon Capture and DPP. ACR doesn’t read the WB balance right. All the metadata is stripped from the images. When I load my 1 gig images into PS everything grinds to a halt! And on top of all of that, for some reason none of my keyboard shortcuts work. And I really resent your activation policy. What are you – the 900 lb gorilla?

Tech:

Did you calibrate your monitor? You have to actually process the RAW image in ACR. The manufacture didn’t give the documentation for adjusting WB and the metadata is proprietary. Ask your manufacturer to make that data available. What video card are you using? And stop pirating software.

User:

How do you calibrate a monitor? Why doesn’t ACR know how the image is supposed to look? Why can’t Adobe figure it out the WB and metadata? PS should adapt to any video card. And I was just asking about this for a friend.

I am now expanding the list to include basic Digital Photography info as well as specific categories of Digital Photography such as Nature, Landscape and portrait photography. Most but not all of this info is free. This list will be continually updated for the next few months. It will be indexed by subject and finely honed but will remain a simple site of links to easily navigate (hopefully). Your additions, suggestions and help openly solicited.
